| Day 4 in Puerto Rico...East Island Snorkeling Trip on a "Power
Cat" |
 |
 |
This time we are heading out snorkeling with
a big group on a "power cat" that is a catermaran
that uses a big boat motor to get around instead of a sail.
There was a big iquana at the dock near the deck that benefitted
from all the fruit left over from the tours! he kept a pretty
good eye on us!
The ride to the first island stop will only take a half hour
or so but the water was pretty choppy and two people got sick...glad
it wasn't me! I thought it was like a great roller coaster ride! |

| At the first island (Callubrita)
we couldn't go to shore but could snorkel around the boat. Believe
you me, I stayed real close to the boat! Right at the boat there
were so many fish and little 2" moon jellies! We saw big
white angel fish and blue tangs. A big spotted ray jumped about
three feet out of the water about 30 feet from the boat! right
where some people were snorkeling over the reef! |

Sharks?
Nope-just dolphins...
that makes me feel a bit better!
Between stops we came across a pod of about 20 dolpins. None
of them jumped out of the water but from the size of their fins
you could tell some were calves.
So cute!
It is overcast today and there are a few sprinkles. One girl
called back to her mom on the big island and she said they were
getting a ton of rain! through the day they almost got 5 inches!
glad we are 30 miles away on the power cat!
Off to the second stop! |

|
The second stop was at one of the
most beautiful islands in the world! Flamenco beach has white
beaches with turquoise waters. It is very calm and fun to swim
in. You can walk down the beach to the rock jettys for the snorkeling
area. Both mom and dad went quite a ways but I just went a little
ways down the reef. This is a picture I found of a spotted ray...it
flew through the air so fast we could only tell it was dark!
and big!
The beach was beautiful, the sand was soft and warm and I am
so tired again! tomorrow will be way different! come along with
us to Day 5! |
